Recipe for an Amazing Sizzle
Most sizzle reels follow the same formula. Fast cuts. Big moments. A mix of everything.
It shows range. It proves you’ve done the work.
But it doesn’t always answer the question clients actually have: What are you great at?
They’re trying to get a quick read on where you’re strongest, and that usually comes down to a few simple choices.
The Recipe (4 Parts):
1. Start with what you want to be known for
Not what you’ve done the most—what you want more of.
2. Group work by capability
If everything feels different, it’s harder to connect the dots.
3. Edit with intention
Strong clips can still dilute the story if they don’t reinforce the same idea.
4. Make it easy to repeat back
After one watch, someone should be able to say:
“They’re great at ___.”
What to do this week:
- Watch your reel once and write down what stands out
If it’s unclear, your edit can do more work - Group clips into 2–3 themes
Trim anything that doesn’t fit - Tighten the first few seconds
Set the tone early
Critical Minute takeaway:
A sizzle reel is often the first impression, so make it easy to understand what you do best.
